Portrait Commissions

Several Gagliardi Gallery artists, trained in some of the most important schools and academies around the world, have been selected to carry out commissions on behalf of clients. The painters are capable of excellent results, working exclusively from photographs. All portraits are executed oil on canvas.

Please see an example of a commission below painted by Maddalena Zappia. In this case, the painting was requested as free interpretation that altered the angle of the portrait, the background, the light and the atmosphere of the composition/ The subject of the portrait is Cosimo I de Medici of 16th Century Florence.

Portrait Procedure

The artist should ideally have four photographic images of the subject but can work from a single photo if necessary.

Clients can have portraits made in sizes that range from 50cm x 70cm (20" x 24") up to 100cm x 150 cm (40" x 60").

The gallery also offers a bespoke framing service from traditional ornate frames to modern minimalist mouldings.

Once the portrait is complete, clients can request adjustments.

Transport is available worldwide.
